This spring and summer found me randomly picking up flower seed packets on sale or rescuing nearly dead plants at HEB or Walmart. If something looked distressed, it came home with me. Most of seeds (labeled partial sunlight) got tossed in our old pond area. I intentionally collected packets of blue Morning Glories. These sun hungry flowers went into a spot out back. My anticipation for these blossoms meant documenting their spiraling growth out back. Month after month, I’ve waited and watched. As hot summer folded into cooler October, one bloom emerged. My morning ritual for this past week entails walking through cool morning dew to photograph another blossom. Pleasure and happiness comes from relishing Morning Glories each day. No matter how difficult life becomes, one single flower reminds me of all of the new promises ahead.
